2012 Spelletich Reserve Bodog Red

Bodog is a blend created to honor our Great Great Grandfather. Our Spelletich Coat of Arms is dedicated to Bodog Spelletich. Born in Hungary in 1815. By the age of 21, Bodog became an attorney and was elected to the Hungarian Parliament. Later, he devoted his life to the national independence of Hungary, by joining the Revolutionary Army. At the end of the war in 1849, he was forced to flee the country with his family. Together they emigrated to the United States to escape a Monarchists death sentence. This begins the Spelletich Family adventure of freedom and creation from Scotts County, Iowa to Napa Valley, California. Bodog dared to be different, dynamic, and purposeful. This wine is made to enhance food and to be enjoyed with family and friends.

This vintage Bodog is 62% Merlot, 31% Syrah & 7% Zinfandel.  Dense ruby/purple in color with aromatic red, black and blue fruits leaping out of the glass. This multidimensional wine opens to plump blackberry, blueberry, and cherry on the layered palate. Complexity is added with black licorice, clove, anise, pepper, cinnamon, and cocoa with hints of roasted coffee and smoky earthy nuances on the lush extended finish.
